Promenade - Review

If you are going to Pondicherry some one or the other is bound to recommend you to go to “Beach road” and may be some of you might have been disappointed by the fact that there is no beach on beach road. Fair warning, there really isn’t a sand beach on beach road. But what there is, is the promenade and it is more than worth a visit.

The lovely area is perfect for a quiet evening with friends or family watching the sea ripple with waves or observing a ship sailing at a distance. The triangular rocks form dainty barriers for the crashing water and the place is quiet lovely and tranquil. You can even walk around or exercise on the cement path. Tiny huts provide refuge from the sun. Speaking of the sun, while you can’t see the sun set, be sure to watch the Sunrise at this memorable spot. The war memorial, the Joan of Arc Statue and the Mahatma Gandhi statue are interesting things to see on the 1.5 km stretch of land.

You can eat at the café on the shore or sample the delicious street food on offer in the evenings. Toy vendors and candy floss make it perfect for kids as well. This is the kind of place that will be a favorite haunt throughout the trip to Pondicherry, and no matter how many places you see, you are always sure to come back to this Promenade.

Promenade, Puducherry Reviews

  • We visited Pondicherry recently and this was a most recommended place to stay. The swimming pool is awesome and kept clean, the rooms are very cozy and neat. The staff who served us during dinner time was so great and helpful. They would strike up conversations to make you feel at home. It's right in the middle of the French Town and right across the street from the rocky beach. Most of the places to visit are walking distance from the hotel so it worked out pretty great for us.

  • It has the best location. Food is good. Ambiance is business hotel, lacks the french Aesthetics. We didn't get sea view so if you aren't getting the sea view thier sister concern hotel Les duplex is better to stay. We got a great deal on make my trip, stay here only if you are on a work trip. Definitely Visit their Rooftop restaurant and their story teller bar.

  • Nice four star property located on a busy junction. Rooms are big and clean. Buffet breakfast is great with good mix of Indian and continental food. Staff are very courteous and will greet you every time you pass by. I checked in with my wife and when we went to the room it had two single beds but they had our rooms changed after we told them. No great views from the room.

  • Location is nice. However, it's not worth the hype. We had to wait for half an hour just to get glass of water. Very slow service. We wanted to visit Bay by buddha that night, but they said it's not available. And very cold behavior. Hotel seems nice by staff is quite cold.

  • For an old hotel, this place has been extremely very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The room service was spot on, with instant responses. Very polite and courteous staff. Breakfast spread was decent, although not too many varieties. We had booked for an ocean view room and we were lucky to have a view of the lighthouse as well. We had a pleasant stay with no complaints or compromises.
