Katraj Snake Park and Zoo or Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park as it is officially called is a popular spot for children. Well maintained premises and a good collection of animals, reptiles and birds mesmerize children and adults alike.
Situated little outside central Pune in Katraj, this place was opened in the year 1995. The 130 acre area of this park includes an orphan animal shelter, a snake park and the zoo. It also is houses a huge 42 acre lake.

Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, Pune Reviews
I went to this park second time, as on Google it's timing was mention from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm which was correct, but and I reach there by 5.45 pm, but I was not allowed because the ticket counter was get closed at 5.30 pm. So visiter consider the park timing till 5.30 pm only. Now about the park, so it's very big it will take minimum 4 hours if you want to cover it full. Huge species of snakes and good part is that some of the species are active. One tiger, white Tiger, species of deer, and a big lake which was entirely covered by river plants, as it was under government nobody is taking care off, there was huge potential to make it a fabulous lake if maintained it. Over all it was fine little trip and Good all age group.

This zoological park is spread over a vast area. Deers and antelopes varieties are seen mostly here. Apart from these snake park is wonderful. You can see python, cobra, turtles, tortoises, crocodiles and various other reptiles in the snake park. Visiting in the months of monsoon is bit suggested as you'll enjoy the walk through the zoo you'll get the feeling of walking in forest. Tigers, elephants, peacock and Indian bison are some other attractions.
Pros :- 1. Park is good & well maintained for animals. 2. Good for preschool kids, they can see real animals. 3.Animals description board are install near each animal. 4. Entry fee and electric bus fees is very nominal. Cons :- 1. Maps were not instlled anywhere, so if you are walking then you are clueless about remaining distance. 2.No food stalls inside zoo, if you are walking without food or water then it is really hard. 3. Electric vehicle facility should be highlighted, most of people come to know about it once they see electric vehicle running in zoo, so they can't use it.
Good place, well maintained, especially for kids. Regular cleaning done, average toilets. Animals look healthy in fairly large enclosures. Streams flowing to the small lake are littered with garbage, especially plastics. Snake park was good too. Some reptiles like a few snakes, alligators and tortoises were in cages, obviously. Battery operated mini vans are good. Entry ticket is very cheap. All in all a good place to spend 3 to 4 hrs.
