Situated little outside central Pune in Katraj, this place was opened in the year 1995. The 130 acre area of this park includes an orphan animal shelter, a snake park and the zoo.  It also is houses a huge 42 acre lake.

Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, Pune Reviews

  • Nice Place to visit for whole family. Many animals are there. White tiger is the main attraction. Nice place to visit with kids if your child love animals. Mine was very happy to see many animals. But lots of walking it is best to take battery car for the elders and parents with small kids. Seems it is a neglected place as many places was empty without animals. But yes we saw lion and tiger...good overall...

  • Delightful experience. The battery operated car takes you on a tour if you don’t want to walk. I highly recommend this as the Operator of the car also shares short info points on the animals and the care given. Our cart operator was Mr. Poddar, an amazingly pleasing personality- seemed like a happy person ; was good doing at his job. The lady officer at the booth for electric was a rather indifferent woman strolling on the phone and completely ignoring us who were waiting for someone to come on the counter to give us some information. This was the only sour point of this visit to the zoo. Overall the animals are a delight to watch. There is no stench and it’s well kept, clean and tidy. We did not visit the toilets but there were quite a few on the way. The areas are well labelled, there could be better signage but I was happy to see more trees and animals and less boards :) It’s so close to the city limit and yet so beautiful and wonderful away from the buildings and cement world we live in. The entrance fee is very affordable - people from all walks of life can access this zoo and I am very happy about it. I am glad I chose the zoo over a play area in a mall this week. Best 200 rupees spent ever. (If this review has helped you in anyway, click the like button)

  • Nice place to take your kids to. Zoo is well maintained with open enclosures for animals. There is a parking stand next to the park, so no parking worries. Please also note that there are battery operated vehicles available for which booking need to be done at the entrance itself. Will advise to walk to all those who are fit. Nice place to spend time alongside your kids.

  • Nice place to relax with family. The places has tree shades and the best time to visit is 2 pm to 5 pm. 3 hours is required to see the whole place. If the lion or white tiger didn't turn up at the first sight, chances are high that you can see them while walking back. There are 2 mighty elephants, birds, snakes and other wild animals. Nice place to relax. The place is little crowded on Sundays. But it is fun except you have to be in a long queue for tickets.

  • Nice place to visit with kids and family. You can spend an entire day there and go for a picnic too. Though there are less animals to see these days but surely you can witness lion, tiger, elephants, deer, bear ,reptiles and some other. Keep some water and eating stuff for your kids. If you are going with the little kids and toddlers, take there strollers with you because you have to walk a lot. The place is clean and has many toilets which is the best thing. No balls and other gaming stuff is allowed there. You can carry a mat to relax there. Overall a good place to hang out in pune.
