Iberostar Dominicana All Inclusive, Punta Cana Reviews
Nice resort, nice beach, great drinks, mineral pools in the spa are amazing. Resort is not as advertised: only standard rooms offer pool view, don't buy into the spa suites since the only thing different is a $50 spa gift card for overpriced services, we never had a special mini bar, aromatherapy, flower service, or beach towels in the room. Not many choices for different foods. The fancy restaurants are almost impossible to book and only one allowed if under 7 day stay. Concierge will be by your side every hour trying to push you into going to the time share but as a hush, hush deal. If you refuse, you will never see them again if you need anything. Very kid friendly. EVERY entertainment is geared towards kids. Annoying if you don't have kids with you. Pool closes at 7 PM and no swim up bar. Seriously 7 PM! Bavaro seems nicer but pricier.
Resort grounds are superb. Staff is very friendly and happy. Pool area is great (need to get up early if you want good chair selection... same for beach). Food at buffet is good... dinner buffet had better variety and selection over other times. La Cana, the steak restaurant, was very good. It was difficult finding availability for reservation times at most restaurants (and got to guest services at the recommended time upon check in). Nightly entertainment was ok, but was loud and difficult to understand... did have good pool and other activities during the day. The staff did a good job on letting guests know what was happening, and when. The beach, however... very disappointed! Lots of seaweed! This is, of course, no control of the resort (and they did have workers cleaning the beach everyday), but the beach was always dirty. However, after back to back summer trips to this area (different resorts), and the beach still dirty and the water not pristine blue color, Punta Cana will not be on a return list for our family.
The stay was great. I would have given a 5 no doubt but not everything went smoothly. The Hotel is amazing. It is affordable, at least when I was looking for places to stay in Punta Cana. The staff was very friendly approachable and eager to help specially Addy. The rooms were very clean and temperature in the rooms were perfect and we had controls to the air conditioner next to the bed if need of adjustment. The WiFi throughout the resort was great zero complain from my teenage kids even by the beach so you know it was good. The Buffets were full of variety and always getting changed fresh and new dishes throughout the day and throughout the week. Unfortunately this is where my one and only unfortunate event happened, I tried since the day we arrived to get a dinner reservation but it seems that their system was outdated and it never seem to work no one could help me with reservation came every day morning and afyeafter for the 1st 3 days hoping to get a reservation for 2 restaurant throughout our week stay only once was I able to get one reservation for the last day and it wasn't the restaurant we wanted but we took it because, well it was better than nothing. Our restaurant dinner was outstanding and we were happy we got to go. My advice if any is to make the restaurant reservations easier for the guests so they don't waste time from their vacation trying to book it. The facility like I mentioned was always kept sparkling clean workers are always available and constantly cleaning. Rooms could get a little update as could the rest of the hotel non the less we loved our vacation and can't wait to come back.
Room service excellent steak house and seafood excellent all excursions wonderful the fourth day needed information at guests service, 2pm regarding information on flight for Friday back home. There was a young man did not get his name and young lady was very rude did not want to leave desk but I was told where to get information. Of course the info was not there came back to the same young man and women told them information wasn't there. There response I will have to wait until Friday because Iberostar doesn't have anything to do with Island Sun services did not bother to call them this One incident is why we will not be returning by the way we are a pretty large Group but everything else here I will give 5 stars and these are some very special workers I encounter .
Not terrible, but mediocre in many ways. The beach is so weedy that we spent our week at the pool. At least they pour a full tumbler of scotch. The spa was small but good, one of the best parts of our stay. Food was usually edible, but nothing stood out. I will not return.
