Chilika Lake, Puri Reviews

  • It was a great photography experience in the lake. It homes a great variety of migratory birds, especially in the months of January to February. Good boatmen to guide you and take you to best spots to click photos.

  • I liked this lake. The boat rower also shows us some crabs, shells and pearls. We also saw small fishes jumping. I mainly enjoyed the sunset. I liked it.

  • Beautiful place for boating. If lucky we can see Irrawady River Dolphins. We saw 3 ones 2 brown and 1 ash colours. They were very afraid and wanted to avoid us. The boatmen in that area somehow cornered them and we could see them. The local people offer food for the Dolphins which very costly. It is better to carry bread crimps or bread to feed the birds who sit on the lake when we go for boating. Lot of persons would sell pearls to you but you should be very careful before buying them. Lot of cheating done. Until and unless you have some knowledge on pearls please do not venture to purchase and waste the money. The boating charges are on a higher side which is run by the Association it very much printed on the ticket that they do not take any risk. They charge Rs.1700/- per boat and the trip is 3.30 hours. The Association has Toilets for Ladies and Gents which are atrocious and maintained very poorly.

  • Chilika lake is one of the wonderful natural beauty in the Eastern India. Located in India, Chilika is a lake whose three sides are surrounded by land and one connected to the sea - the Bay of Bengal. Chilika lake is situated just aside the South-Eastern railway line, so it can be easily viewed from trains traveling through this zone.

  • Its a very beautiful lake. You can hire a boat and take tour to various part of the lake. If fortunate you can hope to see dolphins as well. I was able to see one. You should never miss the Sunrise at Chilika Lake. It's splendid. I have witnessed one and think that the best sunrise I have ever seen. Entire lake turns golden red with rising sun. Your camera will love this place.
