Pushkar Lake - Review
Anybody residing in India would be well aware of Pushkar Lake. It is considered to be a holy lake that attracts a lot of pilgrims who come here to carry out their religious rites. The lake is close to the famous temple of Sri Brahma, one of the very few in India. This was a place where Lord Brahma (the creator of this world) prayed with Mata Savitri. What makes this lake conspicuous that it is surrounded by 52 bathing Ghats and more than 500 Hindu temples are situated around its borders. Pilgrims throng in large numbers to take a sacred bath here, especially around Kartik Poornima (October–November) when the Pushkar Fair is held. A dip in the sacred lake is believed to cleanse sins and cure skin diseases. Apart from its religious significance, this lake also adds beauty to the city of Pushkar in Ajmer.

Pushkar Lake, Pushkar Reviews
Beware the Brahman SCAM. First the good. Pushkar is a fascinating place with lots of temples, a market where you can buy most things especially silver jewelry and a holy lake. Now the not so good. If someone tries to put flowers or petals in your right hand saying he wants nothing, very firmly say NO and walk away it is a SCAM. It works like this, petals are put in your hand and you are told to throw them in the lake at a particular ghat where another man will introduce you to a Brahman. This so called priest will sit you down and perform a ritual getting you to repeat incantations, he then tells you to 'donate' money asking for thousands of rupees. If you refuse he gets nasty and the stand over man comes to intimidate you. If you are with a partner you will be separated and the same thing will be done to them. Do not give them anything and get out of there as fast as possible. Better still refuse the flowers in the first place and just go to sunset cafe and enjoy the lake view.
Located in the small town of Pushkar in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan, The Pushkar Lake is one of the most prominent spots of pilgrimage as well as the site of the world famous Pushkar Fair. Encircled by numerous temples and ghats (bathing spots), the lake draws thousands upon thousands devotees every year to its threshold, to gain spiritual distinction and attain salvation by taking a dip in its holy waters. As the Kartik (Oct-Nov) month descends, the site becomes the focus of soulful devotion and pilgrimage as auspiciousness of this time is highly emphasized in Hindu sacred texts. At the same time, Pushkar Fair wonderfully exhibits the vibrancy of Rajasthan with exotic colors, dishes, dance, cattle fair and numerous entertaining contests and competitions. Very good place and must visit city in Rajisthan... Sitting at lakeside will give you divine experience.. Many people will try to misguide for parking and places, google maps can be trusted there..
Lake itself is not great. But market around is very awesome. A very different market than Jaipur. You'll need around 3 to 4 hours to cover the market and shop.
It is located in the town of Pushkar in Ajmer district of the Rajasthan state of western India. Pushkar Lake is a sacred lake of the Hindus. The Hindu scriptures describe it as "Tirtha-Raj" – the king of pilgrimage sites related to a water-body and relate it to the mythology of the creator-god Brahma, whose most prominent temple stands in Pushkar. The Pushkar Lake finds mention on coins as early as the 4th century BC
