Built in between 1861 and 1872, Garrison Point Fort is an artillery fort. It was built as a precautionary measure against a possible French invasion. It was in use until 1956 and is now used as a port by the Sheerness Docks. The fort is one of its kind and exemplifies a casemated fort. It is built using concrete, granite, and brick. Although the fort has stood the test of time, it is suffering through slow decay and is listed in the Heritage at Risk Register. A good place history buffs, visit this fort to observe the ancient architecture.
