Lake Matheson, Queenstown Reviews

  • Beautiful mirror lake and fern forest with amazing views of Mt. Tasman and Aoraki/Mt. Cook

  • We might not have taken "the" picture of the still water on lake Matheson (went there at 6 am and there were heaps of very low clouds so we couldn't see anything) but the walk is nice, a bit of fresh air and cool view of Mount Cook and Abel Tasmania Glacier!

  • Great walk though the jungle, then great mirrors lake mount Cook and tasman views

  • I like more the forest than the lake. Needs more signs showing were you are, easy to pass the view point because the lack of signs. It's a long walk

  • Went there when the weather was cloudy so we could not see any reflection. The mountain background was covered by fog. The lake is quite small and usual comparing to other NZ lake. The walk through the rainforest was quite nice. Terrain was in reasonable slope although surface was gravely so i did not use my baby stroller. Ended up carrying my baby. Return trip to Jetty was 1 hour (we were group of adults, kid and baby). At the carpark, there are a nice cafe, reasonable priced gift shop and adequate quantity of toilets. Unfortunately there is no parents room. Overally it was an ok place to visit where you are at fox glacier.
