About Skyline Gondola, Queenstown

For the best view of Queenstown, climb aboard the Skyline Gondola that will take you to the top of Bob’s Peak for a breath-taking panorama of the adventure capital of the world. Not only is the view from the destination picturesque, the journey to Bob’s Peak too is a real treat. Coronet’s Peak, The Remarkables and the Queenstown Gardens to name a few, are just some of Queenstown’s attractions that you’ll be able to spot.

One of the most popular activities here, apart from the dining atop the peak is the Luge Ride. From Bob’s Peak, hop on for a free airlift (by chair) about 100 m high for an 800 m Luge Ride down. The Luge cart is safe for all ages and you can enjoy a scenic view on the ride down and catch the airlift back to the starting line for another ride. There’s also a cultural Maori Kiwi Haka dance that takes place on the hill, the tickets for which can be purchased at the entrance.

Skyline Gondola, Queenstown Reviews

  • Real nice place here. We had such a great time as a family. They've got a restaurant and they've got a cafe also. If you fancy a simple fish and ships or if you want a fancy meal it's all there. I would send you right to the restaurant because their deserts are just mad and food is really nice. Not to forget, the luge is very well built and and lots of fun for the kids. Only two tracks, bloggers and advanced. There is also an area were you can have a walk up the luge, I must warn you, it's a very steep hill so come prepared, plenty of water if you are going in the summer time.

  • An incredible view over Queenstown at Bob's Peak! I will never forget this view. There is also a Luge Ride activity where you can take a chairlift up, and sit in luge cars to race down the hill. Some helmets have a GoPro clip to mount your portable camera!

  • The last time I visited was close to two decades ago, and the changes here aren't too many except for the appearance mostly including the dining area and gift shop. But nevertheless, it's a great place to visit and enjoy for anyone of any age, and it seems quite new to have helicopter rides taking off from here. Do get the combo gondola and luge ticket (at least 3 luge rides as your first is always going to be a learner's ride on the slow track).

  • Nice viewpoint of Queenstown and friendly staff. Even if you didn’t get a prepaid ticket, the line does really quick anyhow! Except restaurants, there’s no much places you can walk around. MTB tracks look great though would have been great if we took our bike up there!

  • Very touristy, but a must visit location for visitors to Queenstown. Ride the gondola up, have a coffee at the cafe and have a couple of rides on the luge. Make sure you enjoy the views. Other activities include walks and mountain biking.
