This is a holy spot where believers take a dip before visiting the temple of lord Rameswar. Agnitheertham is of great religious significance to the Hindus especially as they believe that after killing Ravana, Lord Rama offered his prayers to Lord Shiva, at this very place. Most people pay visit to the Ramanathaswamy temple after a visit to Agnitheertham. A dip in the water of Agnitheertham is considered as a way of washing away your sins. The water is said to be so holy that immersing your body in this water grants you forgiveness for all of your ill doing.
