About Reptile Gardens, Rapid City

This unique zoo cum wild Animal Park is definitely a treat for wildlife enthusiasts. It plays home to a wide variety of reptiles and unique plants that aren’t seen just everywhere. In fact the Reptile Gardens is the largest reptile zoo in the whole wide world with more number of reptiles than any other zoo or animal park. They have got snakes, lizards, crocodiles, komodo dragons and amphibians to name a few animals in their collection. Many of them have also been featured in popular TV shows too. They are very particular about getting their animals from zoos and not capturing any from the wild. This park may give some visitors literal creepy crawlies, but being so unique, is a treat that shouldn’t be missed.

  • This place has THE best display of reptiles you will ever see in your life. It isn't a Guinness World Record holder for nothing. The shows (snake, gator, and bird) are very interactive and informative with guests. The dome has hundreds of displays that are clean, and a good suitable size for the reptiles. The people who work there are very polite and very open. Every time I'm in South Dakota for a weeks long stay I visit about 2-3 times which I've been doing for the past 12 years or so, and I never plan on stopping.

  • Was an excellent visit for a very reasonable price!!!! Kids were amazed with animals and loved the crocodile , bird and snake show. Spent 3 hours exploring the large area of exhibits. Touching tortoises and even a baby croc. Once you pay once you can get season pass for free to enjoy the rest of year without any cost!!!!!! I absolutely love it every time I come here.

  • This place was clean, the staff was courteous and kind, and the number of exotic reptile species was very surprising for a little place in the Black Hills. And not least, the animals appear well cared for and each has a well maintained terrarium/aquarium. The center garden is amazing and the grounds beautiful.

  • Good place for one time. Visit in summer more useful as lots shows are not available in winter season. Snake show very good. Giant tortoises & crocodiles are special.

  • Loved this place! It took about 2&1\2 hours to check the whole place out. Friendly people, the shows were awesome! A must see!
