This unique zoo cum wild Animal Park is definitely a treat for wildlife enthusiasts. It plays home to a wide variety of reptiles and unique plants that aren’t seen just everywhere. In fact the Reptile Gardens is the largest reptile zoo in the whole wide world with more number of reptiles than any other zoo or animal park. They have got snakes, lizards, crocodiles, komodo dragons and amphibians to name a few animals in their collection. Many of them have also been featured in popular TV shows too. They are very particular about getting their animals from zoos and not capturing any from the wild. This park may give some visitors literal creepy crawlies, but being so unique, is a treat that shouldn’t be missed.

  • Beautiful place! Well worth visiting the snake show, as you get a hands on experience with these venomous snakes! You learn so much in a well sized place! Totally recommend, as you can even pet 100 year old tortoises! As you walk in the reptile section, often times, there is a very angry snake watching you (which I find neat, adorable, and also cool to see a cobra's neck puff out.) If you highly respect these creatures to be in your presence, then low and behold, this is a well kept place. There are frogs and lizards of all shapes and sizes. Also, meet Maniac, the world's third largest, non-hybrid crocodile, who is relatively smaller then the rainforest boa constrictors! (And that's saying something, because the crocodile is huge!) Don't be shy to talk to the birds in the dome section, where even lizards sunbathe freely, and snakes hang on vines, all cozy and snug. The crocodiles and alligators are very adorable, and beautiful... and I personally love the massive fossil and crystal collections INSIDE the exhibits with live animals. All the while, the shop is also very cheap to your liking, with fossils and gemstones (some) of you might not know! The lady there at the desk is very helpful at telling you what everything is. All in all, this place is something you can't miss on your way to bear country. Especially if you want a large selection shop, that's cheap; and many rare, exotic animals on display!

  • This is a great place to visit if you enjoy seeing animals up close. It would be great to visit with children. There is enough to see and do at the Reptile Gardens to spend at least 5 hours here. The price of admission is also reasonable, given what you can do inside. There are 3 shows available, offered at regular intervals. They each last about 20 minutes. The shows are: alligator show, snake show, and bird show. These are all entertaining, and informative. Of these shows, there is plenty of suspense and excitement given during the gator show. I highly recommend spending time in the atrium/dome area. This is a truly unique building. You can walk through orchids, and see various lizards, birds, and other reptiles. I would say this is a hidden gem in South Dakota.

  • Fantastic place. Eagle enclosure, giant tortoises, and a TON of reptiles in the dome. Lots of information and helpful graphics and all that- really enjoyed this place. You could spend a whole day here if you took your time and saw the shows they host. Great spot, would love to come again.

  • This place is dog friendly! Where else can your dog have an up close encounter with snakes and alligators. My dog was on the edge of his seat during the bird show, and the birds had 110 percent of his attention. My dog got a little too hyper during the snake show and we had to take him outside. Our dog is like our baby, and it was so fun to have this experience with him.

  • Highly recommend, by far one of the coolest little zoos I've been too. Definitely make sure to see all the shows although if you have to skip one the bird one wasn't as good as the others. Loved seeing the century old tortoises and the plants and ground are breathtakingly beautiful!
