Porte Mars - Review
The triumphal arch of the Roman Empire, the site symbolises its glory, aura and the reign.Considered to be the widest arch in the roman architecture, it dates back to the third century AD.
The site borrows its name from Roman God of Valour-Mars and exhibits elaborate carvings on its exterior and on the ceilings of its corridors. The arch reminds us of the glory as well as the fall of the greatest empires of the human history- Rome. According to the local folk history, the arch was constructed by the inhabitants of Reims in order to express gratitude to Romans.

Porte Mars, Reims Reviews
Looks good in the photos. It was closed up completely with a white sail (probably for restoration) yesterday. Much larger than I expected from the photos.
Beautiful arch. Built in roman age.
Unfortunately, La Porte de Mars was under reconstruction and covered in scaffolding when we visited. The size was still very inpressive!
A bit disappointing at the moment.
4/14/2017 Even though the gate is completely covered for restoration, I still gave 5 stars because... UNESCO Roman Ruins!!! I will return to see Romulus, Remus, Castor and Pollux one day. At 32 meters long, the longest Roman arch made and existing.
