This lovely neo-classical 19th century Roman Catholic Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Rennes. It’s not the first building on the site – the first cathedral here was built in the 6th century. From the outside, it looks sombre and granite. It’s when you step in though, that the sheer sumptuous decorations blow you mind – rare marble, and gilt, and stucco, and paintings. See the stunning 15th-century Gothic gilded wooden altarpiece. In the winter, when there are no tourists, it is almost magical.

What a gorgeous cathedral - even after hiking through France for day after day and seeing dozens of beautiful old buildings and metric tons of exquisite religious art, this place made an impact. Open, soaring space, glowing with interior color, I'm so glad we stopped in.
This is a cathedral such as I have visited only rarely. It is grand beyond description. Truly it competes with the Duomo in Florence and that is no exaggeration. I'm fairly sure it gives St Paul's a run for its money too. Pointless describing it, just look at the photographs, better still make sure you visit it when you are in the area
Among all the beautiful churches in France this one was meh.
With some many impressive cathedrals around, this one was average.
Not a very lively place but the beer in the Cafe Babylone next door is very good!
