During the day this merely looks like an elegant and large white wishing well. But on certain nights, the mechanism of fifteen searchlights and many prisms is switched on to send a column of light straight up into the sky, sometimes visibly rising 4 kilometers. Conceived by peace activist and the late John Lennon’s wife, Yoko Ono, the monument and work of art has the words "Imagine Peace" carved into it in two dozen languages. Embedded under the monument are one million written wishes that Yoko Ono personally compiled from the peoples of the world. The geothermally powered tower is lit on the following dates:

  • 9th October–8th December
  • 21st–31st December
  • 18th February
  • 20th–27th March
  • New Year’s Eve

  • Since Videy is an island, you have to cross over on a ferry from the Skarfabakki pier and the Aegisgardur harbour.
