25 minutes outside of Reykjaviclies one of the coolest types of natural formations-the lava tube of an extinct volcano. The 900 metres long tube is near a volcanic crater south-east of Hafnarfjordur. The ancient flows of lava have left behind a tunnel of startling colors, strange rock formations, narrow and wide passageways, and a skeleton of a lamb. It is this lamb’s story that gave the cave its name-“The End of the Road”. Sometimes you will have to get down on your hands and knees to crawl. The locals request you to avoid damaging this natural wonder, something many visitors inadvertently doing. For the best experience, come here as part of a tour excursion.
