The Nesjavellir Geothermal Power Station is the second largest geothermal power station in Iceland. The Nesjavellir Geothermal Plant is a combined geothermal heat and power plant that produces electricity and hot tap water for human consumption. Here the mixture of steam and geothermal brine is transported from large wells to various machines which remove moisture, condense the steam and produce preheated fresh water which is then transported to storage tanks. Guided tours of this power plant give you an insight into working for this plant.

Nesjavallavirkjun Reviews & Ratings
Like to know how we Icelanders heat our houses and have all the warm pools. GOGO
I actually didn't go into the power plant but when you head out take highway 435! Most amazing drive of my life! You're going up and down some pretty steep grades but you'll be fine! Each hill unlocks new valleys and views! It was STUNNING to say the least. THIS IS A MUST!
Warning! There is no tour at this plant! You cannot get in. We drove all the way there, on gravel road, and learned that there used to be a tour about 3 years ago. Save your time and don't go there You can take a tour, which was great, at Hellisheidarvirkjun plant
Amazing view from this place.
