Castle Of Monolithos - Review
Not far from the Village of Monolithos you will find this interesting castle. Although the whole structure does not exist anymore seeing its vestiges and imagining what it must have looked like in its glory days is certainly an experience worth having.
Lost in the Greek isles the castle has a wild and rugged sort of a feel to it. Not only this, the area in and around the castle has some stunning views up on offer. Overlooking the sea, this old ruin has a stunning location and a very old worldly charm to it. A hike up to it is certainly a refreshing experience but perhaps an also a wonderful photo opportunity. A very interesting place to visit in the area!

Castle Of Monolithos, Rhodes Reviews
The walk up is not as bad as it looks but beware the stone can be very slippery. Once you reach the top though, you are rewarded with amazing views. There is a little chapel where you can light a candle (donations required) or just take a moment to collect your thoughts. There is a little stall selling souvenirs too. Once at the bottom there is a taverna where you can take a nice lunch. As you drive back up the hill, there are some viewpoints and stalls selling a variety of local snacks. The sesame coated nuts are delicious! A little out the way but worth the drive along the South West coast, taking in the wild beaches on the way.
Wonderful view and really nice ruins. Only missing some historical things though. Don't know why the castle is there 🙄 but the restaurant under the castle was nice. Prices were good and food also.
A beautiful place to watch the sun set. You can rake a picnic basket with some goodies and a bottle of wine and watch the sun go down either on the beach or up on the top. The casle is a ruin but there is a small church there and there are plenty of places to sit down and enjoy the view. Definitely a place to visit. There is a little cafe at the bottom of the castle too. Parking is free.
Beautiful castle and amazing views. Just before the castle on the road there is a stand that sell local food, loved it.
Must see for anyone interested in cultural travel and those that have an interest in Greek history particularly history in relation to the Greek Orthodox Church. Sun set is by far the best time to visit. Exceptional views!
