Science Museum Of Virginia Reviews & Ratings

  • The building and bathrooms are kept extremely clean. Staff is helpful and welcoming. Safe, fun, educational environment for all ages. Has wheel chair accessible entrance, exhibits, elevators, etc. I love this place and have been going since I was little. My only criticism is that certain exhibits (like boost and speed) have missing pieces to many of the activities, or the electronic activities don't work. I would recommend this place to anyone!

  • The science museum always has a lot to do. The membership pricing is affordable. They have many exhibits to keep you entertained. The dome is great, lots of movies. Today we're watched the Volcano movie and then went to the Pompeii exhibit.

  • This is a wonderful place to while away an afternoon or evening away, whether you're flying solo or have the whole family in tow. This is also a gem for casual dates, as there are enough attractions and exhibits to keep the conversation flowing and an IMAX some to catch a movie in. They also have a small cafe with great seating options and very good coffee, snacks, and sandwiches (both of the cold and hot variety). My family and I get a membership every year, which provides us discounts in the cafe and gift shop as well as entrance to the museum without paying admission. You can also upgrade your membership for $50 to the package that allows you unlimited movie tickets in the dome. Give this place a try. It's a great way to beat the heat during Summer and, when it's cold outside, the cafe always has hot coffee ready to go.

  • Very nice exhibits, we love it all. Kids are well entertained in the “fast” exhibition where there are all sorts of fastest this and that. Very hands on, you and kids can participate in various challenges. Kids area downstairs is great too.

  • We really enjoyed ourselves. However this was a field trip and I think the kids would have taken more away from it if they had a guide or even people in each section to help explain how the different activities tied into science. To them it was about the same as the children's museum. All they did was play the activities and skipped over the reading to explain the how.
