Trsat Fortress, popularly known as Trsatska Gradina is a site of considerable historical significance. It lies in the city of Rijeka, a cultural and historical center of Croatia. The history of this site dates back to the 13th century and it is one of the oldest fortifications in Croatia. But as it faced several battles and natural calamities, it was constantly modified. The latest modification was done in the 19th century by Field-Marshal Nugent who converted it into a Neo-Classical structure. Now this castle has been restored and consists of a courtyard cafe.
