Rila Monastery is an ancient place of worship located in Bulgaria. It was established in the year 1927, and is famous tourist attraction. It is also depicted on the national currency of Bulgaria. It is named after Ivan of Rila, who was the first person to establish the monastery. It underwent numerous calamities and was rebuilt several times. The main church of this monastery was constructed in the 19th century by a famous architect named Pavel Ioanov. It has a four-storey residential building with over 300 chambers. Currently 60 monks of the Eastern Orthodox Church reside here. It also has a museum, and the highlight of this place is the Rafali Cross, a masterpiece made by a monk named Rafael who inscribed 104 religious scenes and 650 miniature figures on it.
