Copacabana Beach, Rio De Janeiro Reviews

  • More than a beautiful beach, this famous sandy place is an institution, it´s probably one of the first names that pops up into your mind when someone says the word Rio De Janeiro. Don't get me wrong, Copacabana is still one of the best of its kind, with its splendid promenade full of kiosks, its unique thematic floor, its half-moon shape, its large and long beach, its famous buildings overlooking the ocean, but, as I already wrote in another review, I think it's far from being Rio´s best one. Due to its location, close to the Guanabara Bay, the water can be very dirty and sometimes it's so bad, that authorities forbid people to enter the water. On the other hand the sand is always clean. An activity that I always enjoyed doing in Copacabana is watching people playing Footvolley (the Brazilian version of volleyball, where the contenders hit the ball with their feet and heads). A special mention goes to the new year´s eve in Copa (as the locals call it). It's one of the world´s most spectacular celebration, with the best fireworks, in a super nice atmosphere, where people from all over the world gather together at the beach to say goodbye to the old year. Plus it's always a pleasure to spend winter in a warm place. Not the best option but a MUST on your Rio´s TO-SEE list!

  • Sunrise Frio agua de Coco Crashing waves Beautiful People Early morning walks Arts & crafts market on some nights(in the median of av.atlântica) Music Frutos do mar Just a grande slice of Paraíso

  • The beach is good but be careful on your belongings

  • Nice tranquil beach with plenty of sun, sand and waves all around. 🌞⛅🏊👍Beautiful panoramic views greet you of Sugar loaf mountain, Christo Redentor and the Sea side buildings. Perfect place to take a swim, stroll on the beach or just relax with a beer at one of the numerous shacks dotting the area! 🍻🍺🍷🍸🍹 Neat and clean beaches with walking tracks for pedestrians. You can see people making sand art or playing beach volley ball during the mornings and evenings. Best time to visit is in the mornings or late evenings as during the day its a bit crowded with visitors/ tourists. The weather was awesome.👍 Be careful of your belongings when you swim. Its better to visit with friends and/or family for a memorable experience. Was lucky to have met a few of my friends from Belo Horizonte who were travelling at the same time as me! All in all a great atmosphere to be in!👌✌

  • Beach is nice.. good climate.. but the waves are really dangerous, they are very strong and be careful with the waves in copacabana.
