About Jardim Botanico, Rio De Janeiro
The ‘Jardim Botanico’ or Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro has a serene landscape that offers respite from the city. The garden is home to hundreds of varieties of flora from Brazil and around the world. Set on 140 hectares, the park is home to several bird and small animal species. There is a Visitor’s Centre on the premises where one can plan how best to explore the lush greenscape. There are also several water bodies and fountains around the garden. The shade provided by the trees and comfortable park benches make for a nice place to sit and relax. There is a children’s playground for kids under 10 to play. Other highlights of the park are the Old Gunpowder Factory, the Victoria Lilies in the Lago Frei Leandro pond, the Amazon Region and the Japanese Garden. Some other attractions worth checking out nearby are the Parque Lage and the Escola Parque. You will also find several sculptures located around the garden. Jardim Botanico, Rio De Janeiro Reviews
Absolutely gorgeous. Seems to have been recently upgraded. Many exotic plants and trees, very well kept and presented. Don’t miss the capibaras in the pond. The palm tree alley is majestic. Only 15r to get in. Excellent value and a nice change from the bustle of the city.
This is among my top 5 places in Rio, if not the absolute top one. It's not about the collection of plants, but about the atmosphere. There are two rivers whose waters are being distributed throughout the garden via small aqueduct. The everlasting sound of running water, of streams and waterfalls just made the experience for me. If you have the time, definitely visit it more than once, and during different seasons, as it's alive and always shifting.
Really amazing ! We went here as a refuge from the Rio carnival - lush and varied trees and plants. There were some turtles too. Very well maintained and pleasant to walk and sit around in.
One of the most beautiful botanic gardens I've seen! It is massive and impressive! The only downside is that you can see that it needs a bit more of maintenance and cleaning but it still beautiful. You can see the Christ the redeemer from there and if you're lucky you may see little sagui monkeys.
This park is huge with hundreds of species of plants and trees. I liked it a lot but I think that the botanical garden in Sao Paulo is more beautiful, although smaller... If you in Rio and like parks Rio's Botanical Garden worth it the visit. You will pay about 5 US Dollars or 15 reias per person
