Ristorante Ripa Del Sole Di Bertola Daniela E Matteo Sas, Riomaggiore Reviews - Write a Review
I have to give this place a 5 because it is the best experience in Rio I have had. The other places along the tourist area were really not that great and overcrowded. This is a little out of the way but worth it. If you are along the water and can't find a table give this place a try. It is up in the mountain area about a 20min walk front the train station. It is quiet and a very relaxing environment. The food and service was top notch. I had the smoked swordfish wrapped in cheese for my first dish for my second dish I had the rabbit with fresh vegetables. Both were excellent! The area is known for its fresh seafood but I've had seafood for the last two days so I was willing to try something new. Don't settle for the fried fish or the take-home pizza tried to try this place. The price for the total meal including a glass of wine and a cocktail was €40.
Our experience here was quite satisfactory. The food was very good, and the service from our waiter was acceptable. Nothing here wowed us, but we were not disappointed. We were largely let to enjoy ourselves. This is near the top of the mountain town, so it will require a bit of a hike if you aren't staying nearby. Unfortunately, you aren't rewarded with any awesome views once you get to the top. I got spaghetti and meatballs (how unsophisticated, I know) and the local greens. The pasta is cooked Al dente, something I'm not a fan of, but considered normal.
The view is lovely and the food fairly good- and priced well. Sadly the service was so poor; 2 or 3 wait staff for 8 small tables, and we waited over half an hour for our empty plates (which arrived at intervals) to be cleared. We were hoping on coffees and desserts but took ourselves to the front (leaving our plates at the table) to pay after being constantly walked passed and ignored. A shame considering the view and menu.
We had a really bad experience in this restaurant. Even at the moment at the arrival we said hello in Italian and the didn't responded we should have left then. I order the fish of the day which was one of the most expensive dish on the menu was expecting something fresh and good. But I received a small slice of a freezed fish which was like plastic to eat and wasn't seasoned at all only some salt on it. I asked the chef to speak he didn't wanted to come with an empty restaurant. I was said it was all fresh. We discussed with the an other table an they also were not happy. Really small plate and the other dish the risotto wasn't cooked enough. It is a shame to serve such things in Italy a country known for his gastronomy.
Food was good BUT service was bad. Took literally an hour to get food. My wifes food came out first then took another ten min before mine came. Only two waiters in the room. I heard one of them say to another table, sorry the food is late it ia busy tonight - i note however the restaurant wasnt even half full. Don't go here, go to a restaurant in the town. Saves you the climb also.
