Accor Vacation Club, Robina Reviews

  • If you have Kids do not buy this membership it is a total waste of money as you find it impossible to use when you want to use it, in a place that is worth using. I have spent a whole day looking at options to use my points and even made a call to membership services who told me i could go back and search online. Any place that is worth going does not have consecutive time blocks when you want or need to go. You get a 10 month booking window on Silver yet anyone else that has a higher membership gets the bookings before you can lock in, hence the future sales calls for you to upgrade and spend more good money on restricted choices. I am a Accor Platinum Le-Club member and i get way more value out of this membership. I wish i had read these reviews before i committed, yet beware once they have you in the room they will throw the freebies in and the kitchen sink for you to sign there and then, so you don't have time to go away and think about it. They are very good sales people. I love Accor Hotels and use them on a corporate level yet vacation club is not for those who have kids and don't have flexibility.

  • This is such a sham! I was told that I would get hotel rooms when I want which is NEVER the case and it’s way more expensive than booking hotels direct! If u r ever considering it please DO NOT buy it ever. Useless service and they trap u and threaten you about collection calls if you want to cancel. Horrific experience!!! Wish there was a ‘0’ star rating!

  • We got an e-mail for cheap accommodation, 2 day stay with the catch we attend a 90 minute presentation. First thing they did was get us to sign a document that said we received the PDS (or so the salesrep said). We weren't given any time to read it. My fault for signing something without reading it. Life lesson learned. Anyone going to the presentation, demand to read the PDS first, by law it is your right! The presentation itself is quite something! They don't tell you any figures in the first hour, despite me asking how much does this cost. Their standard answer is "I'll get to it, let me tell you about this amazing offer first!" They offer you the moon and back, a points based system that is inflation proof! You can stay in any accord hotel all over the world for measly yearly cost that is similar to paying a body corporate. Wow!! What they don't tell you is that it is not recession proof. What happens if you lose your job or there is an emergency? Some research online and you will find that a cancer patient had to fight a long time in court for his membership to be cancelled. Disgusting to say the least. You are not told you do not have access to every room in every hotel they offer, only 3 or 4 rooms, justifying a lot of peoples reviews here that they cannot find accommodation. With over 30,000 members fighting over 3 or 4 rooms a hotel, you can imagine how difficult it would be to get a room for one night, let alone multiple nights in a row. You also cannot cancel the contract once the cooling off period of a 7 days is over. Even insurance companies give you 30 days. They did some amazing mathematics about how in 40 years I'll be spending 200k in holidays, but with this club program I'll be spending half that. That's a massive lie as membership fees increase yearly. You save no money at best, and be out of pocket almost all of the time. The deposit that had to be paid then and there of $30k. When I said that was enough for a house deposit, the sales reps scoffed at us. They used the words 'quality' and 'lifestyle' a lot! I wonder if the sales reps are members themselves. Anyways when we said we were not interested, the annoyed salesreps told us good luck building our houses, we want people who want a quality lifestyle. I had a laugh. We still get phone calls every now and again from Accor, if I come across another offer for cheap stay, I'll be sure to take their offer, 90 minutes wasting their time (and mine) to stay in a decent hotel is not a bad deal. PS, some of the 5 star reviews here look quite sus. Vacation Club employees wouldn't post 5 star reviews themselves would they?

  • Unfortunately, we have been members of AVC for about 3 years and like many others are stuck in that trap of “investing” way too much money ($30k) for limited return, having no way out, and having to keep paying the annual fees of about $1000 to actually be able to use the points and get at least some use of the membership. For our “investment”, we get a weeks holiday (family size unit) which needs to be booked 12 months ahead to actually get the dates needed in school holidays. We have been lucky to jag a single night at one of the properties mid week on short notice, and to be fair, the properties we have stayed at have been nice, but hardly worth the outlay based on the limitations mentioned. We do however still get the pleasure of receiving the regular phone calls for “special points offers and upgrades”, which when result in no sale because I refuse to throw more good money after bad, descends into a rude and condescending tirade from the “sales” person as there must be something wrong with me because “so many others constantly take up the offers”, and I “don’t know how to make the most of my membership”. Good for them, and clearly money is no object. So, now I need to take more time to attend workshops to find out how to make the outlay less of a waste?! After receiving another one of these phone calls yesterday, I feel compelled to warn others to avoid this trap. Enjoy the cheap weekend, go to the high pressure sales presentation, but DO NOT SIGN UP, unless you can meet these criteria: You can spare the money (and $30k would be the minimum to get any use from it); you can book your holidays well in advance; are retired and flexible with travel dates; you can accept the phone calls and keep throwing more money in. Or if you must, buy them from the many poor members who are desperate to liquidate their memberships at a fraction of the original cost. But you’ll get much better value from an Accor Plus membership at $350pa for discounted rates and meals and a free night.

  • Pushed and pressured in attempting to sign up.. treated poorly when told we wouldnt commit to tens of thousands without researching ! Beware
