Popular with the sunbathers in the summer and cross country skiers in the winter, this is Rochester’s favourite waterfront. The north end of the parks runs along the waters of the Lake for 5000 feet. The Durand Eastman Beach in turn is the city’s favourite beach, and where most of the city comes to swim, though that is only permitted in the summer months. The park is 977 acres in size, and has two small lakes of its own - Durand Lake and Eastman Lake. The plant life around the park, rich and diverse, have given the park a well deserved reputation as Rochester’s Arboretum. In fact, it has its own Arboretum - the Slavin Arboretum! Wildlife in the park includes deer, raccoon, chipmunks, and eastern gray squirrels. Furthermore, according to local legend, the park is haunted by the ghost of the White Lady, who searches through the park looking for her lost daughter.

  • I have some medical illnesses and My dog and I had The GREATEST time with My roller Chair We walked a trail, went to the beach, and relaxed under the trees in the Park.😁it was Wonderful!!! Thank You So much. And GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS.

  • Love this park especially in the off seasons when the beach is mostly deserted except for a few folks who live nearby and are out walking their dogs. I avoid it in high-season when it's packed with folks blaring radios and the boat people and jet skis-- but it's a beautiful place to watch a sunset (or sunrise if you're a morning lark instead of a night owl, like me). Great trails in the park to walk, as well. Many happy memories through my years living here, and one of the places I miss most whenever I'm away.

  • I grew up in Rochester and remember Durand beach to have been very rocky and poorly maintained. I haven't been to the beach in over a decade, and now it is sandy, the water is clear, and there is no litter problem at all to speak of. It is August and I'm in Roch to visit from Charleston, SC and I've been to Durand beach almost every day. Way less crowded than Ontario beach in Charlotte. Durand park and golf course are also lovely any time it's not snowing.

  • Nice walking path along the lake plenty of parking and always busy with people

  • Nice place for large family parties. Even good for an evening walk with the family. Nice and quite. The drive into the par from seabreez side is beautiful in the spring and fall
