House On The Rock, Spring Green Reviews

  • SUCH a cool place. Be ready to spend 2-3 hours at least. I’d recommend the “full” guided tour - very worth it. The house itself is really cool, but there are a zillion weird/cool collections there. We’re talking amazing mechanical music “boxes” that are actual orchestras with actual instruments, a carousel with >250 animals, a model of a squid fighting a blue whale that’s 3 stories high, and more. People of all ages will love it. Snacks are also available.

  • I have been here before and just went back for my second time. It's an eccentric place that takes you to a charmingly eerie place in the best way. The prices are reasonable for the amount you can see and food prices are comparable to any attraction. I wouldn't recommend this for younger kids who lack an attention span. I saw many young kids who were bored and trying to rush on to the end. My group went to all three sections and spent about 4 hours here, which can be tough for little ones. The downside to this place is the upkeep. While I understand it's essentially an antique place with kitschy objects, the place was covered in dust, cobwebs, and dead bugs. The place is covered in carpet including walls, which led to a very musty smell in some rooms. The lighting was very dim, to the point where some displays were barely visible. Some of the music machines were out of order, while others accepted our tokens, but did nothing. The women in the gift shop took off 75¢ of our purchase to make up for our 3 lost tokens, which was nice. I have no doubt I will be back again in the future, but I would not be surprised if I saw the same things broken and run down.

  • If you're looking for something unique, or macabre, this is the perfect destination. I feel as though I could walk through multiple times and notice new things each time. Interior temp varies greatly, so do not dress too warm. Very unique and nostalgic pieces inside. I attended with 3 kids ages ranging for 3 to ten and all wanted to go back. A must see!

  • Absolutely massive, if you don't stop to take pictures and try to power walk or jog the whole thing you'll still be at it 3 hours later no exaggeration. But it's a massive collection of collections neatly organized and well presented. However the lighting is a bit dim and it's easy to get lost as signs are somewhat sparse. The gift shop is par for the course in terms of selection and overpriced trinkets, just skip the fudge it's not that good. Do try the food court in section 2 though. Lots of up and down through the sections though so be warned and take your time, benches are everywhere and after a while you learn why. Maybe bring a snack and definitely some water. There's hardly any ventilation it gets nice and sweaty in some areas so don't forget your towel. Comfortable shoes are a must. This is more of a guide than a review but the place was all kinds of fun but definitely took way longer than originally thought, kind of an all day trip than a road side stop.

  • Nothing prepared me for the experience that awaited me at this place. We were able to do the first 2 levels out of the 3 and I thoroughly regret not doing the third as well. The first part is a beautiful garden, followed by an museum of Alex Jordan ( the man who made the 🏠). Then there is the house itself which is amazing followed by the Infinity room. The second part upped the level of awesomeness to a whole new level. 'Streets of Yesterday', 'Music of Yesterday', 'Heritage of the sea' were all sights to behold. It was capped by the largest animal carousel in the world which is kind of undescribable, you have to see it to believe it. All in all 3.5 hours of awesome memories. It was roughly 50$ for a couple (kids below 3 are free). Highly recommended.
