About Mount Archer National Park, Rockhampton

The mountain looms over Rockhampton like a protective guardian. Bushwalking and rock-climbing aside, Mount Archer is an excellent family getaway. You get tremendous views of Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast and the sunset from the summit (which isn’t so hard to reach). There are some excellent picnic and BBQ facilities that are quite popular with the locals, so you might want to try those out. Of the wildlife to run across here, the most prominent is the cockatoo. If you’re feeling hardy, you can even walk 11 kms from Fraser Park (near the mountain) to German Street. At any rate, going to and fro along the road to the mount is wonderful enough for its peaceful views.

Mount Archer National Park, Rockhampton Reviews

  • Absolute top quality MTB tracks, starting down at sunset drive and Guthrie street. Professionally designed and built, signed and graded green, blue or black. Toilets down the bottom, a few seats at the peaks. Great riding, hiking and trail running. Please note that while most MTB riders don't mind hikers on the tracks, there are a few runs that are downhill only. Walking these tracks is dangerous to you and the rider, please observe the signs.

  • Its a really nice view i advise you go but some walks may be closed or not theres also some cool plants but the toilets aren't nice and dont forget its a national park with cute birds. Hope you will like it

  • Beautiful day nice and quiet just the sound of the birds sky clear as can see for ever

  • Decent view of Yeppoon and the Capricorn Coast where I should have stayed. Couldn't have a BBQ, because it was broken, the table wonky, with grass growing through it. Toilets, like the place stank!

  • First time there. Some of the walking tracks we're closed so didn't get to experience it fully. A beautiful area none the less.
