About Mount Archer National Park, Rockhampton

The mountain looms over Rockhampton like a protective guardian. Bushwalking and rock-climbing aside, Mount Archer is an excellent family getaway. You get tremendous views of Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast and the sunset from the summit (which isn’t so hard to reach). There are some excellent picnic and BBQ facilities that are quite popular with the locals, so you might want to try those out. Of the wildlife to run across here, the most prominent is the cockatoo. If you’re feeling hardy, you can even walk 11 kms from Fraser Park (near the mountain) to German Street. At any rate, going to and fro along the road to the mount is wonderful enough for its peaceful views.

  • Absolute top quality MTB tracks, starting down at sunset drive and Guthrie street. Professionally designed and built, signed and graded green, blue or black. Toilets down the bottom, a few seats at the peaks. Great riding, hiking and trail running. Please note that while most MTB riders don't mind hikers on the tracks, there are a few runs that are downhill only. Walking these tracks is dangerous to you and the rider, please observe the signs.

  • First time there. Some of the walking tracks we're closed so didn't get to experience it fully. A beautiful area none the less.

  • Fresh and cool air. Nice view of the entire town. Couldn't see the ocean that day when there was too much haze.

  • Fantastic place for a little adventure. Loo definitely needs a upgrade tho

  • Great barbecue facilities. Fantastic lookouts. Beautiful gardens. Interesting hiking trails... and the local council is about to invest a whole lot more in the area. It's a must see in Rockhampton and will be even more so in the future.
