This isn’t a long visit, but it sure is an intimate one. The zoo is enclosed within the shady and cool botanical garden, which are a great boon during the searing Australian summers. Come early and and check out the gardens first at sunrise. They open at six, so you’ll have two hours before you need to enter the zoo to visit the Japanese Gardens, the Desert Gardens, the Murray Lagoon and the Garden Tearoom. Once you go off to the see the animals, there are specific sections clamouring for your attention. The Reptile Area, the Australian Walkabout (mostly birds and kangaroos, even a Koala) and Furry Friend (mostly monkeys and apes). It’s a lot of fun packed into a very small package.

  • Were in Rocky and decided to visit the gardens to go bird hunting. The gardens are quite large and you will need a good hour to walk around them properly. Bird lovers paradise and we recorded 42 species in 2 hours. Recommend walking through the large tree section as there are some amazing trees and don't forget the war memorial and Japanese gardens located above the cafe.

  • Having delightful day till sat at lips and witnesses a lad throw a foot ball at the rosellas, mother standing there no word of reprimand. This is our future citizens. Thank goodness I won't ha e to be I'm there company.

  • Peaceful gardens. Areas for the kids to have fun and be noisy while others can take a nice stroll. Expensive food. Birds will swoop for chips. Great entertainment if you sit outside.

  • Great place.... Kids had a ball playing in thet bottom of the water fountain. Great way to cool of on a hot day 😂😂 Playground was awesome. Plenty of shade.

  • Beautiful place. Kids lived the free zoo. Cafe also there.
