City Sightseeing Roma, Rome Reviews - Write a Review
Very disappointing. We've use this company in the past in other cities and they've been great but this tour in Rome was poor value for money. Way too much time waiting at stops and when the bus did move, the majority of the audio was just music on a short repeat cycle. There's no "live" guide (even if you're Italian) do you're stuck with the audio. In a city with so much history the commentary, when it did come, was extremely short of facts. Oh, and the roof of the "open top" bus covers most of the taller sights so you have to hang out to get decent photos. OK for getting your bearings at the start of a trip so one star for that.
I keep doing these city tours everywhere since the concept is so perfect. The hop on hop off is appealing and can be worthwhile. In this case, the audio explanations were lacking. Long periods of music and inadequate sight seeing explanations. I think I'll start reading these reviews before choosing my next city tour.
I think a lot of the 1 star reviews are exaggerated from our experience. The bus is comfortable, never had to wait more than 10 minutes at a stop to hop on and even though they got busy at no point were they full. We had the 2 day ticket which was roughly €30 each and the route was very nice and takes about 2 hours. They took a 15 minute break at the bus stop but we usually had another bus there to switch to. The one and only legitimate gripe I have is that they have an audio tour rather than a guide which doesn't give as much information as I would have liked but it wasn't awful. I'd recommend as a means of transport around the sites as it's perfect for this but if you want to actually learn something you'll have to get off.
Had to wait to long for the bus. The frequency wasnt every 10 minutes as indicated. Normally had to wait 30 minutes. We were looking forward to the evening ride, but waited 30 minutes in vain. The bus didn't come.. too bad. Can not recommend it to anyone.
Long periods of music rather than commentary. Received zero help from any of the employees on the ground around Rome - all they wanted me to do was buy another ticket off them and then they would point me in the direction of the next stop or give me a bus map. There are much better services available to tourists.
