Mount Vesuvius Reviews & Ratings

  • It´s 10 EUR to go up. The walk is fine, but can be hard while in hot summer (actually no toilets after the entry gate). View and crater are something to see...

  • Simply a beautiful experience! Great hike up to the top with bonus stunning views of Naples. Not a very long or steep passage. Recommend to visit in the morning as it gets crowded. We paid €6 for unlimited street parking, €2 for a shuttle bus from the parking to the trailhead and the entrance fee but it was worth every cent!

  • It's an active volcano! You can see the steam rising from the crater. The crater's bowl has natural wild vegetation growing around it. The texture isn't the same all around. There's a part that looks like elephant skin. This hike was wonderful! While the day we went was awkwardly foggy and cold, it was better than a hot day, or I would've never made it.

  • There is a good view if the tourist route is the only way for you to get here ( you can get the same views from the surrounding roads and paths). Ideally you need a really clear day and go when you can avoid the throngs of tourists. None of the entry fee appears to have been spent on the area. The path to the top is loose sand/gravel so a closed shoe is better. On a summer's day it's still t-shirt weather at the top but be prepared with another layer if it clouds over. There is a regular guided tour right at the top.

  • The view is great. In summer, climbing up is really hard. Prepare yourself with water and shoes (not sandals- small rocks fall into them and make climbing pure hell). Good luck
