About Ruins Of The Palatine Hill, Rome

This landmark is one of the Seven Hills of Rome and is one of the oldest parts of the city. The ruins are located at a height of forty meters above the Forum Romanum on one side and the Circus Maximus on the other side.

The main tourist attraction in this location is the ruins of Domus Augustana. There are several popular myths and stories that are associated to this location

including the one regarding the founder brothers of Rome. According to legend, the cave of Lupercal was located here and it is in this cave that Romulus and Remus were cared for by the she-wolf.

Another popular mythical incident that is said to have taken place here revolves around the legend of the battle between Hercules and the monster Cacus. A supposed blow of the club by Hercules was said to have such impact that it resulted in a crater being developed in a part of the hill.
