Dating back between 817 and 824 AD, the church was built on the site of a 5th century building. Featuring a beautiful courtyard, garden and a 12th century bell tower and a gothic tabernacle by Arnolfo di Cambi, the church is dedicated to roman martyr saint Cecilia.

Be here to observe the 13th century mural paintings and observing the striking ceiling of Cappella dei Ponziani adorned with the art piece ‘God the Father with evangelists’ by Antonio del Massaro. The graphic altar-sculpture by Stefano Maderno- a prominent sculptor of the late renaissance is also must-observe! The crypt id decorated in the cosmatesque styles and houses the relics of St. Cecilia and her husband St. Valerian.
