This church belongs to the Dominicans or the Roman Catholic Order of Preachers and is considered to be one of the most important churches for the preachers of the faith. There are quite a few areas of interest connected with this church.
For starters, the site on which it is built is purported to have housed a temple to the Egyptian goddess, Isis who was then mistaken for Minerva, the Greco-Roman Goddess by the authorities. Another special feature of this church is that it is possibly the only building in Rome which was originally built in the Gothic style of architecture, rather than being refurbished in the Gothic style much like many other monuments and buildings.
It is advised that people visit the interior of the church to get a feel of the impressive and imposing architecture and to take a look at Michelangelo’s Christ the Redeemer. Also, it will be a good idea to visit the church because of its close proximity to the Pantheon.

Nice moody church, very quiet, hiding behind an ugly white wall.
The exterior sucks but the inside is beautiful totally worth-the fly buy. Don’t get scammed buy a tour like we did it’s free and you don’t need a tour.
This rare Gothic church in Rome is very unassuming from the outside. The interior is however quite awe-inspiring with wonderful paintings against the walls and the roof. It is situated behind the Pantheon and amongst many government buildings.
Visited June 2015. The interior blew me away. Visiting the famous Pantheon, I had heard about a little church tucked down a street behind it. Walking up to it, it's a plain, unassuming baroque facade, but inside... This is the only remaining medieval Gothic church in Rome, with a must-see starry ceiling and massive nave. Also worth seeing is the interesting obelisk outside, Egyptian like many in Rome, however, this one is on top of an elephant. If visiting the Pantheon, it's definitely worth the 1 minute walk down the road to visit this!
A beautiful carved elephant outside the church, the ceilings have beautiful artwork.
