If you are an art lover and seeker then this place is your heaven. The distinguished museum of art and everything related to art is exceptional in many ways. The primary reason for it being exceptional is the extensive collection that this place houses. There is nothing but the history wrapped and maintained in the impeccable condition in this art centre. The place was established in 1937 and houses artefacts from the sixteenth to the twentieth century. The extensive collection of southwestern art, the equipment and workshop of pioneering rocketeer Robert H. Goddard is the highlight of this place. The place is conveniently located and easy to visit.

Need a real museum after looking at UFOs? Come here for some excellent art AND science. The center is free, and has both art and exhibits on Robert Goddard, father of rocketry. Check out a display of his workshop, and go outside to see a sculpture of Goddard getting ready to launch a rocket. I'm not usually an art person, but I really enjoyed the variety of art on display, both by local artists and artists that have done a residency in Roswell in the past. There's art to please everyone's tastes. This was a much more enjoyable and satisfying experience than the UFO museum, and was the highlight of my visit to Roswell.
The Roswell Museum and Art Center isn’t just about collections of paintings and artworks, the place also houses a reinterpretation of Dr. Robert Goddard‘s work shop. Goddard is considered the Father of Space Age. In his 12 years of stay in Roswell, New Mexico he and his crew experimented on rocket launch control, tracking, and recovery. According to the museum, seventeen of fifty-six flights accomplished in Roswell reached altitudes of over 1,000 feet. Dr. Goddard died on August 10, 1945.
I really found the rocketry works shop fascinating as well all the art galleries.
This musuem is the best that I have visited in a small town. If you are into early developments of the modern rocket or the early cowboy and plains Indians it would be time well spent to visit.
The Roswell Museum is a quiet lovely place with areas to sit and ponder. Even when parts are off limits, there is always something to see. Free with donations appreciated.
