Waimangu Volcanic Valley - Review

A must see attraction when visiting Rotorua, the Waimangu Voclacanic Valley is said to be the youngest geothermal system. Many highly rated and internationally acclaimed geothermal features such as the Inferno Crater Lake and the rather appropriately named Frying Pan Lake dot the valley. There are various trails for you to explore, with a free guide to inform you about the particular structures and its history. Waimangu Volcanic Valley, Rotorua Reviews

  • I gave this a 3 because I was disappointed to learn that half of the walking path was shut down 'due to storm' damage. This was not stated on their website, nor did they inform me before I paid the $40 entry price. The walks and views of this place are beautiful, but I believe this is an overpriced activity, and you could do other free things in rotorua that have the same wow factor.

  • Wow! A hidden gem! Great walking paths and beautiful steaming lakes. The lakes aren't as dramatic as at Wai-O-Tapu. But it's more green and less developed/touristy. You can imagine this is what the world looked like thousands of years ago! The main walking path is not difficult and there are buses to drive to you if needed. Excellent signage, the brochure they hand you when you buy your ticket is covered with information, all of which is interesting facts and history about the valley.

  • One of the most beautiful and amazing place on Earth. A must visit to North Island. I would give her 6 stars! The park is well maintained, the staffs are friendly, the tour guides are informative and everything here are superb!!

  • Stunning area and fabulous boat trip to learn about Rotorua history!highly recommended place to visit!

  • Very cool, the hiking trail is amazing, tou can really see a lot of geothermal activity. I recommend seeing the Inferno lake.
