  • My local zoo is Edinburgh and I've been to the Scottish national aquarium several times. This place is better than both together. It's big - as it's over two sites. Its superior to Amsterdam zoo which is already good. The sites are linked by an underpass under the rail line. Plenty of shops loos and the usual. I figured half a day but that wasn't enough. A lot of walking but all flat. They have a land train and free buggies at the gates. All the animals a kid could want are there and the enclosures are well landscaped. Highlights include the aquarium and my kids loved the Amazon zone with great turtle views and it doubles as a butterfly house. Never been to a zoo where I could be as close to a leopard or tiger before. Entry at the gate for 2+2 was 85 euros but wouldn't complain. Out of the centre a bit and limited bus service were my only grumbles as it's a little off the beaten track for public transport.

  • The Rotterdam Zoo is a very beautiful place to spend the day. It is prepared to have your children enjoying at every step. Animals and playgrounds all over the place. This zoo is continuously improving and the animals have a rather big space for them. Also they can choose to be inside or outside.

  • The best zoo of the Netherlands. In Diergaarde Blijdorp you meet all kinds of animals and also great architecture. This zoo exist for many years and contains many monuments, but despite that Blijdorp gives a modern feel, great animal shelters and alot of fun for young and old.

  • Seen a few zoos such as Berlin and Prague but this one really surprised me! Loads to see and makes a great day when the weather is nice. The butterfly garden was my favorite. Also has a fascinating oceanium. There is a playground and a restaurant as well as plenty of places to grab drinks ice cream etc. lots of bathrooms around the park too. There is a bike parking by the old entrance and a large car parking by the new one. Zoo is also right by the center so well located. Highly recommended!

  • Lovely place to visit with a good range of animals. Went off season so a little quieter than I expect summer times to be. Don't have any children but would say that it has lots for families to keep entertained.
