Market Hall - Review

Markthal Rotterdam is located underneath a residential and office building and is the best place to visit to try different varieties of food. The market itself is built on a 14th century buried village and is a fine example of modern architecture, technology and design. Whether you want to buy fresh fruits, meats and vegetables or simply try local food varieties, the market has it all.

Highlights include the wide variety of restaurants that serve freshly made specialty dishes.

Market Hall, Rotterdam Reviews

  • Although it's in the middle of the city, you will find huge space in it that gives you a different kind of feeling. There are various type of food especially cheese, bakery and dessert. There are also cafe/restaurants that you can sit and enjoy your food. You can find some ice cream shops to get a short refreshment during your visit. It has built on a car park and also next to the public transport so it's quite easy to reach.

  • Unfortunately we entered when the small shops and market places were just about to close but the building itself is stunning to look at. Definitely will come back when we are back in Rotterdam. Even after the shops close you can sit outside of the building and enjoy a nice beverage and food in the outer area of the market hall. Good for a nice date

  • A very interesting market inside a dome with fruits and veggies painted on their inner walls. The concept isn't new but the variety of food vendors, restaurants and supermarket combination makes it an interesting place to be. Just outside they have an open area which turns into a flea market on certain days. If you like sight seeing this place will be worth an hour of your time.

  • Best market I have ever been to! It had everything one could dream about: nice architecture, amazing views from inside (the entrances are made of glass) and a huge diversity on food. You can go there to buy fruits and vegetables, to enjoy a coffee with a sweet or to have a relatively fancy dinner.

  • A beautiful big market hall. Indeed a touristic place. There are several kinds of stores there to sell fruits, cheese, fish, beer, etc. There are also some restaurants, some of them are fancy and the others simpler. The atmosphere is really nice. the decoration of the building is awesome. The explosion of smells is wonderful.
