Wadjemup Lighthouse - Review
Thousands of tourists come to see the lighthouse every year. It’s an important part of the island’s heritage, and also the highest point on the island. The stone building you see today is the second that was built here. The one before it was also the first lighthouse ever built in Western Australia. The tower you see today is twice the height of the original. It’s also Australia's first rotating beam lighthouse.
While you CAN go to the top of the tower, you have to do it the hard way – climb 155 steps up. The 360 degree panoramic views are worth it though, from 80 metres above sea level. The island, the sea, the beaches – they all look sublime from up there.

Wadjemup Lighthouse, Rottnest Island Reviews
The lighthouse is locked for visitors, so in order to see it from the inside and enjoy the view you need to book the tour. Our tour started right after the ticket purchase and the young guide was well informed about the history of this place and very friendly. The tour is short but I'd say worth it's fee.
Good views from the top, and some interesting notes on the providence of the place. The island was an important post in WWII but was in use long before this. Did you know it was built by Aboriginal convicts in the 1800s? Yep. Unsavoury. Anyway if you like lighthouses, this is one, and if you like steps it’s got 159 of them.
Great local guide. Fantastic views. Steep walk / bike ride up to light house
Great views of the island. A must do on your visit to the island!
Any lighthouse is a good lighthouse and worth a visit. Especially if it's international lighthouse day.
