Rowland Heights is an unincorporated area in Puente Hills, San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County, California, United States. Named after John Rowland, who arrived in the area in 1842 and was one of the first settlers, Rowland Heights covers a total area of 13.1 square miles. With a total population of around 48,200 (as of the 2020 census), the place forms a part of the Metropolitan Area of Los Angeles and is closely represented by the County of Los Angeles. Rowland Heights is also the largest CDP (Census Designated Place) in Los Angeles County and experienced an influx of Taiwanese people during the 1980s and 1990s. The place experiences a warm-summer Mediterranean climate. Regarding transportation, Rowland Heights is well-connected through multiple highways and freeways, making bus transit more straightforward. Public education in the area is handled by the Rowland Unified School District, which includes two high schools, three middle schools, and one college. Some of the most popular attractions in this area are the Schabarum Regional Park and the Community Library.
