Built by the Spanish citizens in the northeast sector of Versailles, the formidable and defensive structure of Saint Severino Castle was bombarded during 1762 at the time of the British Invasion in the area. However, it was rebuilt and was used as an offloading spot for the slaves and the Cuban patriots till 1970 and was called a museum of the slave route. Overlooking the Bahia de Mantanzas, Saint Severino Castle boasts of the Italian and French Renaissance style. Once being used as a prison for Cuban rebels, the museum now depicts the rich and infamous history of slavery during the 18th and 9th century. The castle is now in ruins but with a small fee, you can enjoy exploring the nook and corners.
