Overview of Matsui Waterfront Park
Located along the banks of river Sacramento, Matsui Waterfront Park is a beautiful place to visit. The main attraction of the park is the water intake structure built in the middle of the river. The design of the structure is quite unique and has won many design awards. It is a sight to behold after sunset when the light are turned. The park is spread across a large area and offers many spots to picnic all day along with family and friends. The tranquility of the river offers you peace and calmness when you visit the park.
Generally, tourists prefer visiting top attractions of Sacramento like California State Railroad Museum, Old Sacramento, California State Capitol Museum, Crocker Art Museum and Sacramento Zoo. These are few of the top things to do in Sacramento.
Most of the Sacramento tours skip a visit to this place, but you can create your customized plan if you wish to visit Matsui Waterfront Park.

Matsui Waterfront Park Reviews & Ratings
It was closed sunday at 10am. Google hours must be wrong. Very disappointed. Gates were closed. Took photo in front of closed gates. Photo by stimulate snaps
It wasn't open when I went in the afternoon and had no signs or implications that it would be open anytime soon. Large homeless presence. Not a place for kids
The water treatment plant is now reinvented to include a nice walkway around it. You can watch the boats on the river, the fishermen in overcrowded boats, sit and relax, and it's like you're in another world - so quiet and peaceful. It connects to the new Matsui Waterfront Park, which then connects to the bicycle path. the State Park and Old Sacramento about a half-mile downstream. Very well planned. This is one of those Sacramento River Secrets for those who want to experience how beautiful this town really is. Eventually, it will all be connected to the in-progress Waterfront Redevelopment Project. For those of us who live downtown, this part of the riverfront is easily accessed by bike and gives a respite from the chaos and noise of city living.
Nice place for a quick stroll or quiet waterside reflection.
nice place to go fishing for the afternoon
