Spread over 44 acres, it is also Sacramento’s oldest existing cemetery, and is owned by the City. The cemetery was designed to resemble a Victorian garden with level terraces and walled sections. • One of my favorite places in Sacramento! I discovered this cemetery years ago, when I took my overly rambunctious nephew here on free museum day, not realizing that the cemetery is always free. He loved it and could explore without knocking things over. Usually pretty empty, this cemetery is full of beautiful monuments to people who've been dead long enough that you don't have to worry about disturbing grieving relatives. It is full of hills and well tended plants and a few cats. Great for a talk with a friend, or for thinking about life, or for taking your children for a walk!

  • Most beautiful cemetery I’ve ever been to and I have travelled to many countries. The flowers are amazing!

  • They have the best tacos of all Sacramento.

  • I just drove past the cemetery for the first time. Overgrown 2 ft high weeds everywhere. Looks like it's been abandoned on the west side. It's obvious this cemetery is not maintained the way it should be and is disrespectful to the families of those who are buried there. I was in the mortuary business for many years and have never worked with a cemetery with this lack of maintenance. Disgraceful!!!

  • This place is absolutely gorgeous. I've only been there during the day and it's so peaceful in there. It's also very historic and has some amazingly well done gravestones. Lots of historic figures are buried there.
