Imagine standing on a volcanic mountain, looking out at the valleys and peaks created by the volcanic activity. A mountain that changes its colour every season, from white in winter to brown in autumn to green in summer, Mt. Daisen is regarded as one of the three greatest summits in Japan. The view of the mountain depends on the side of the mountain you are standing on. But nonetheless, it is magnificent to look at from any angle. It has an elevation of 1,729 metres and is the highest mountain in the Chugoku region. You can climb up to the Misen Peak, which is at a height of 1,709.4 metres going through the popular and picturesque Daisen-ji - Misen Peak route. Walking on the trail made of wooden planks, you will be spellbound at the sight of the peak merging into the white clouds above it, and the rugged ridges sloping downwards. You can also spend some time at the Buddhist temple, Daisenji, located in the middle of the mountain.
