About Cathedrale Saint-etienne De Saint-brieuc, Saint-brieuc

This Roman Catholic cathedral, though built only in the 15th century, is the seat of one of Brittany’s nine most ancient dioceses. The building you see today is a national monument. It was heavily damaged in 1375 and 1394; ironically, the man who defended it in the first attack personally led the second attack. Founded around the 6th century by Saint Brieuc, the cathedral contains some of that man’s relics. The 18th century altarpiece is quite impressive.

  • Charmante pour les locaux, mais ne mérite absolument pas le détour, tout comme le centre ville. Saint Brieuc restera ma plus grande déception en Bretagne, alors la cathédrale en fait les frais.

  • " A VISITER " Belle cathédrale catholique romaine , de style gothique, a été construite du XII ème au XIII ème siècle. A l'extérieur, on admire les deux tours : - la Tour Brieuc et la Tour Marie (ou du Midi) qui ont servi toutes les deux à la défense de cette " cathédrale-forteresse ". Elle est actuellement le siège du diocèse de Saint-Brieuc et Tréguier, connu sous cette appellation depuis 1852. Elle est classée monument historique depuis le 30 octobre 1906. A l'intérieur se trouvent de magnifiques vitraux et un orgue . La cathédrale Saint-Étienne est en pleine réfection , elle est quand même partiellement ouverte, pour les visiteurs.
