Pontrieux’s port at the River Trieux was lucky for the town – it allowed for a much better integration into the linen trade the of the 17th century. Today though, the town’s industry is mainly driven by tourism. It’s as pretty a town as a town can be. There are lovely bourgeois houses, and each has its own washing area, called the lavoir. Today these is planted with pretty flowers on the sides of the river. Though you can view these flowers best on a boat from the river, head on down to the Rue St Yves – the flowers there are nearly as pretty. The other highlights of the town are the Richel watermill (Moulin de Richel) and the 17th century 'Hotel de Keruzec'.
In the evenings, the town is very carefully lit up in colored light – so make sure you stick around for that!
Visit on the 15th of August, when a festival- the 'fete des lavoirs', is held. From the town, you can sail to Ile Brehat, Jersey and Guernsey.
- You can drive to here or take a bus.
