The Fort Victor-Emmanuel is a part of the five bastions of Barrier Esseillon in Rhône-Alpes region built in 19th century as fortification for the Cisalpine part from the French invasion. It is the largest fortification among the five and had the capacity to accommodate up to 1500 people in a garrison. The Fort Victor-Emmanuel is built with perpendicular fortification and the cannon towers and it protects the surrounding forts with crossfire. It stands on the edge of the cliff at a height of 1350 metres. The fort is equipped with eight two storey buildings standing in a parallel level including the two buildings used as canon batteries. You can reach the entrance through the metal drawbridge extended from the wooden bridge.
