Nice route with a rich history which includes 2 cave tours. The caves are geologically interesting, one of them being a "live" cave and the other a "dead" cave. There are some stalactite formations which look nice, I did however visit caves that are more spectacular in this respect. However, the way the cave was formed as part of an underground river make up for this and I would recommend a visit to this cave when in the neighbourhood. Tours in French and English are available. Also, during summer, on reservation, there are tours available in Dutch a few times a week.
The caves are interesting to visit with the guide explaining all, the second cave is thrilling while walking on the elevated walkway but the most amazing thing to see is the so-called Sardinian Way, an old Roman road renovated by Charles Emmanuel of Savoy II in the 17th century (also see the monument dedicated to him). An incredibile passageway between Savoy and what was France, what today would be considered a motorway.
Nice caves and wonderful view but you HAVE to take the tour because the history of the area and the geology of the caves are fascinating and really well explained.
One of the highlights in the chartreuse absolutelly recommendet
Nice place for hiking
