The founder of Russian modern literature and celebrated poet Alexander Pushkin has left a big mark on Russia. No wonder then, his memorial is beloved by all too. The museum is dedicated to the life and times of this prodigious author. It is located in one of the oldest stone mansions in St. Petersburg and is where Pushkin spent his last times. The museum is ornately decorated with his belongings and gives visitors an insight in his daily life. His apartment has been recreated with objects and documents that belonged to his friends and family. In the basement of the Museum building, one can find the introductory exhibition informing about the history of the house, the life of Alexander Pushkin in Petersburg in 1836, the history of his last and fatal duel, and the response of the contemporaries on Pushkin’s death.
