Established in 1921, this mosque was the largest of its kind when it was first opened in Russia. Modeled after the tomb of Tamerlane in Samarkand, this mosque with its azure dome and minarets are prominently visible from the Trinity Bridge and is an important landmark in downtown Saint Petersburg.
On the inside, this mosque has ornate blue mosaics that are extremely pleasing to the eye. One certainly does not need to be a Muslim in order to enjoy the beauty of this mosque. The granite walls are also decorated with Arabic inscriptions that further add to the grandiose nature of the mosque.

Nice place of worship. Opened in 1913 for public in Petersburg. Nice and tall minerets. Nice and tall structure of this mosque, wonderful construction with decorative interiors. The architecture of the mosque is very much contemporary. The largest mosque in Europe and can accommodate many devotees for Prayer.
It's one of the largest mosque in St Petersburg. It's designed on the lines of the mosque at Samarkand with exquisite blue tile work.We visited it during the Fri prayers. The worshippers were spilling into the courtyard, there is a separate enclosure for ladies too inside the mosque building.
This is an undesirably beautiful place. The architecture of this masjid is simply awesome. Design and calligraphy on the outer front wall is astonishing. Inside on the maszid is too quite and calm. This place is full of religious and spiritual environment. This maszid decorated with islamic traditional symbol.
Love this building. Beautiful oriental ornaments and turquoise blue mosaic make it shine when the sun shows up in Petrogradsky.
Mashallah very big mosque, structure & design is worth watching
