Located on the banks of the Fontanka River, Summer Garden is a lovely, little island in Saint Petersburg. Built in the seventeenth century, the garden has become one of the important landmarks in the city. When established, it was adorned with around hundred statues and fountains. Everything was created according to the geometric aesthetic ideas. This beautiful garden was mostly destroyed in 1774 when the flood hit the place. But, it was renovated immediately to bring back its glory. Today, this whole small island is dominated by lush green towering trees and rare flower beds. The statues along the pathways have been replaced with its replicas in order to protect the original ones. Taking a walk in this picturesque setting will definitely soothe your mind.
