The Catherine Palace - Review
This palace located in the south eastern part of Saint Petersburg used to serve as the summer home for the Tsars. A flamboyant and elaborate monument to the affluence of the Russian Crown, this palace is a shining example of the Rococo style of architecture.
Catherine I of Russia commissioned the building in 1717, after which it has been renovated and remodeled several times. The exterior of the castle had intricate decorations in gold which added to the majestic quality of this imposing structure.
The frescoes, paintings and statues that are stored in the palace are truly one of a kind and must be included in the itinerary for all tourists to the city of Saint Petersburg.

The Catherine Palace, Saint Petersburg Reviews
Had lots of fun here. The "tricky" fountains were really fun to watch. Rich with the history of Peter the Great and his family. Lots of beautiful paintings. Of course, there is no air conditioning so it can get hot inside! But the palace grounds are exquisite.
From the park till the palace, the visit is amazing. The maintenance of the roads and the buildings are incredible. I recommend going early in the morning, otherwise is going to be hard to visit it completely. A stroll through the park is totally worthy. Take sunscreen in summer!!!
Don't wait for it! The rooms are quite interesting, but even the reconstruction of the amber room is not worth waiting 3-4 hours to pay additional 1200 ₽. The rooms in the Hermitage are way more impressive. In addition there are even more queues inside the palace, as you can't simply walk through but will have to wait for the corridors to be opened. If you have Russians in your group, let them buy the cheaper tickets. There is no passport control.
An absolutely beautiful palace built in the Rococo style, though as with many of the large-scale attractions in St. Petersburg, it can get extremely crowded. I'd suggest visiting at an off time unless you are part of a tour group with advance reservations. Over-the-top doesn't begin to describe this place, and that was the whole point. You'll find room after room of endless treasures, gilded decor, and luxuries. It's fascinating.
Very beautiful palace. Excursion is included in the price of tix. Lines are very long in the afternoon but there’s no people at all after five pm. So you can get in freely. We got in line at 2pm at around 4 we were inside. Definitely worth visiting. Amber room is being exposed now. Nice and beautiful room but didn’t impress us much.
